Seaside Cycling from Lighthouses to Whaling Towns
  
Day 1:
Our Island get-away weekend begins in Edgartown.
From our charming inn, early arrivers can enjoy a walk on the beach or a ride along the
ocean before our dinner together at an Edgartown seafood restaurant.
(For early arrivers: basic route 17 miles easy)
Day
2: We set out for Menemsha --site of the
movie, Jaws-- and Anquinnah. From this rural area of Marthas Vineyard, we cycle to
Gay Head, whos lighthouse and cliffs provide commanding views of Vineyard Sound and
the Atlantic Ocean. (basic route: 19 miles easy, extended route: 35 miles easy)
Day 3: A short ferry ride takes us
to Chappaquiddick Island, where we cycle through Wasque Reservation to Wasque Point and
South Beach. Following seaside views, we ride to Oak Bluffs for an enjoyable afternoon
strolling the boardwalk and touring Oak Bluffs famous multicolored Victorian
cottages. (basic route: 17 miles easy, extended route: 25 miles easy)
NANTUCKET: (Four-Day trip only) From Oak
Bluffs we ferry to Nantucket. Once Americas biggest 19th-century whaling port,
Nantucket is now a summer vacation haven. We explore Nantuckets beaches, coves, and
waterfront views as we loop around the island. (basic route: 22 miles easy)
